Please note that all of Sendak’s original art for his published books is currently housed at The Foundation and is available for research by appointment. To schedule an appoinment please email us at info@sendakfoundation.org.

Student illustrator portfolio review request:

Unfortunately, we are unable to conduct portfolio reviews. We understand you may be seeking guidance with regard to your development as an artist. A title you may find helpful regarding the methods of Mr. Sendak is Caldecott & Co. Notes on Books & Pictures by Maurice Sendak, originally published in 1988.

Inquiries to publish unsolicited, unpublished work by other artists:

Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with unsolicited personal publishing projects.

General Residency / Fellowship / Retreat inquiry:

We appreciate your interest in The Sendak Fellowship. The fellows are chosen through a nomination process. There is no application.

There is also an artist residency being offered through Yaddo. Find out more here.

General Merchandise requests (can I buy posters, plush toys, etc from you?):

We do not directly sell merchandise at this time.

Grant inquiries:

Please note that The Maurice Sendak Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant proposals. We thank you for your understanding.

Artwork appraisal inquiries:

The Maurice Sendak Foundation does not authenticate or appraise works of art.

Can I send my scripts, proposals, ideas, and manuscripts to the foundation?:

The Maurice Sendak Foundation does not accept any unsolicited scripts, proposals, ideas, manuscripts, or concepts.
